The North Gate

In the north aisle of the nave opens a Gothic door that was for a long time the entrance of the faithful. Built at the end of the 12th century, it was admirably restored by the Historic Monuments Service in 1996

.An image of Christ teaching dominates the tympanum.


He is surrounded by four evangelists with their symbols
St John on the right, St Matthiew on the left, facing to the Lord, for they were apostles.
St Mark on the Left, St Luke ont the right.



Angels and apostles occupy the arches


In a triptych, the lintel evokes the transfer of the remains of Saint Benoît from Montecassino to Fleury.

Below, six columnar statues represent the patriarchs and prophets of the Old Testament.
